Manufacturing (Smart Lean) Intern

As a Manufacturing (Smart Lean) Intern, you will support engineers in driving Smart Lean initiatives within the Singapore Manufacturing Technology Development (MTD) environment. You will work closely with engineers on production shopfloor studies related to automation, digitalization, and Smart Lean, analyzing market trends, industrial best practices, and internal data to support process improvement. This role offers hands-on exposure to medical device manufacturing, Smart Lean methodologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you will do
Support Smart Lean projects by collaborating with engineers to conduct production shopfloor studies and analyse automation and digitalisation opportunities
Develop process expertise in medical device manufacturing by applying and implementing industry best practices on the shopfloor
Generate insights from internal data to support process improvement and operational excellence initiatives
Support the Smart Lean Program pillars—Early Equipment Management (EEM), Autonomous Maintenance (AM), and Professional Maintenance (PM)—across assigned projects (e.g. SMT, Automation, MSC, ADA, ASC, FEATS, GAS coating, VD)
Assist in reviewing, simplifying, and documenting EEM, AM, and PM methodologies, including step guides, URS documentation, and presentation materials
Coordinate and work with engineers, operators, technicians, and cross-functional stakeholders to support implementation, training, progress tracking, and reporting of Smart Lean initiatives
Support equipment-related activities, including installation, maintenance, documentation, and monitoring of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
What you bring
Undergraduate or fresh graduate with a Bachelor's / Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or any relevant field
Interest in manufacturing operations, Smart Lean, automation, or digitalization
Basic understanding of Lean / Continuous Improvement concepts (training or coursework is an advantage)
Ability to analyze data, identify improvement opportunities, and present findings clearly
Good communication and collaboration skills to work with engineers, operators, and cross-functional stakeholders
Comfortable working with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) for analysis and reporting.
