Intern - Manufacturing (Smart Lean)

As a Manufacturing (Smart Lean) Intern, you will support engineers in driving Smart Lean initiatives across the production shopfloor, focusing on automation, digitalization, and continuous improvement. You will analyze market trends, industry best practices, and internal data to support process optimization in a medical device manufacturing environment. This role offers hands-on exposure to Smart Lean methodologies, equipment management, and cross-functional collaboration.
What you will do
Collaborate with engineers to conduct production shopfloor studies on automation, digitalization, and Smart Lean initiatives
Analyze internal data and industry best practices to generate insights and support process improvement
Support implementation of the Smart Lean Program pillars – Early Equipment Management (EEM), Autonomous Maintenance (AM), and Professional Maintenance (PM)
Assist in reviewing, simplifying, and documenting methodologies (EEM/AM/PM), including step guides and URS documentation
Participate in manufacturing and automation projects (e.g. SMT, automation, coating, and other process improvement initiatives)
Coordinate with engineers, technicians, operators, and stakeholders to support implementation, tracking, and reporting of initiatives
Support equipment-related activities, including installation, maintenance, and monitoring of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
Contribute to training, documentation, and continuous improvement culture on the shopfloor.
What you bring
Undergraduate pursuing a degree in Engineering, Business Operations, or a related field
Interest in manufacturing, automation, and continuous improvement (Lean/Smart Lean)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
Good communication and collaboration skills to work with shopfloor teams and stakeholders
Proactive, hands-on, and willing to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) for analysis and reporting.
