Principal Engineer

We are looking for a Principal Engineer to provide technical leadership across multiple product teams developing cloud-native applications on the Microsoft technology stack. This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for driving engineering excellence, solving complex technical challenges, defining engineering standards, and mentoring senior engineers. Working closely with Product Managers, Solution Architects, Engineering Managers, and development teams, you will play a key role in shaping technical direction and ensuring delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions.
What you will do
Lead technical decision-making and solve complex engineering challenges across multiple teams, products, and shared platforms.
Provide deep technical guidance on architecture, design patterns, scalability, security, performance, and maintainability.
Define, promote, and enforce engineering standards, coding guidelines, and software development best practices.
Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
Partner with Solution Architects to align implementation approaches with enterprise architecture principles.
Mentor Senior Engineers and Technical Leads through coaching, knowledge sharing, pairing, and structured feedback.
Contribute hands-on to critical engineering initiatives, including proof-of-concepts, reference implementations, and complex technical deliverables.
Drive innovation and continuous improvement through the evaluation and adoption of new technologies, frameworks, and engineering practices.
Design and build cloud-native applications and distributed systems on Microsoft Azure.
Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and Architecture teams to define technical direction and platform strategy.
Support modernization initiatives, technical debt reduction, performance optimization, and operational excellence.
Promote DevOps, CI/CD, observability, reliability, and engineering productivity best practices across teams.
What you bring
Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
12+ years of software engineering experience.
Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale software solutions.
Extensive experience working with distributed systems and cloud-native application development.
Strong experience working within Agile software development environments.
Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions across multiple teams.
Technical Skills
Deep expertise in Microsoft .NET technologies including C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core.
Strong experience designing and building cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure.
Expertise in microservices, distributed systems, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and messaging patterns.
Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, Clean Architecture, SOLID principles, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure automation.
Strong understanding of application performance, scalability, resiliency, and operational monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-204, AZ-305, AZ-400).
Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms.
Experience building SaaS or multi-tenant applications.
Knowledge of AI-assisted software development tools.
Contributions to open-source projects, technical communities, blogs, or conferences.
