Hardware Engineer – Architecture
Driven by the passion to improve quality of people’s lives, WSA continues to grow as market leader in the hearing aid industry. With our commitment to increase penetration in an underserved hearing care market, we want to accelerate our business transformation in order to reach more people, more effectively.
Are you an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer passionate about developing innovative products and shaping next-generation hardware technologies? Join our Hardware Architecture team in Singapore and play a key role in defining the architecture and concepts behind future hearing aid products.
In this role, you'll work at the intersection of electronics hardware design, electro-acoustics, system architecture and product innovation, translating product and technology requirements into feasible hardware solutions. You'll collaborate with global engineering experts and cross-functional teams across Singapore, Denmark and Germany, driving architecture workstreams from early concepts through feasibility assessment and handover into product development.
What you will do
Drive hardware architecture workstreams from early concepts through feasibility assessment, ensuring mature subsystem solutions and form-factor pre-concepts are delivered in line with portfolio strategies and development timelines
Translate portfolio, product and technology requirements into feasible hardware and system concepts, evaluating technical trade-offs, subsystem integration, product commonality and future platform opportunities
Develop and evaluate electronics hardware and electro-acoustic solutions, working with technologies such as transducers, microphones, receivers, induction coils, sensors, batteries and charging systems
Collaborate with R&D, acoustics, simulation, manufacturing, operations, procurement and global innovation teams to develop robust hardware solutions and ensure smooth handover into product development
Drive technical decisions and communicate project progress, risks and challenges to stakeholders, coordinating mitigation actions to ensure timely delivery of architecture workstreams
Explore emerging technologies and innovation opportunities through competitor benchmarking, technology scouting and collaboration with global experts to shape future hearing aid product concepts and technology roadmaps.
What you bring
5+ years of product development experience in hardware architecture, electronics hardware design, system concept development or a related field, preferably within hearing aids, audio, hearables, wearables, consumer electronics or other high-tech products
Strong electronics hardware design and system-level understanding, with experience in electro-acoustic systems, PCB design and hardware testing methodologies, including EMC and ESD
Good technical knowledge of transducers and electronic components, particularly microphones, receivers, induction coils, sensors, batteries and charging technologies
Experience with structured product development and engineering methodologies, including DFMEA, DFMA, Design of Experiments (DOE), and product feasibility assessment; familiarity with tools such as PSPICE and MATLAB is an advantage
Demonstrated project management and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional technical initiatives, influence decisions and manage deliverables within defined timelines; understanding of PLM processes is preferred
University degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with strong English communication skills. Experience in technology exploration, product innovation, platform architecture or technology roadmaps is advantageous. Mandarin, German or Danish language skills are a plus.
