Sr Systems Analyst - Data Product Owner
Driven by the passion to improve quality of people’s lives, WSA continues to grow as market leader in the hearing aid industry. With our commitment to increase penetration in an underserved hearing care market, we want to accelerate our business transformation in order to reach more people, more effectively.
What you will do
You will join the Data Platform & Products Team and serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the engineering team, acting as the product owner for Data Engineering deliverables and owning requirements, governance, and the quality of what we deliver.
In practice, that means you will translate business intent into clear priorities, acceptance criteria, and delivery expectations so the team can build governed data products that are both technically sound and genuinely useful.
Gather and translate business requirements
Engage with stakeholders across Marketing Analytics, Product, Regulatory, Support, and Business teams to gather, analyse, and document analytical and compliance requirements.
Translate business needs into precise data product requirements and functional specifications that Data Engineers and the Data Architect can act on.
Facilitate workshops, requirement sessions, and review meetings to ensure alignment between business intent and technical delivery.
Define and govern data products and KPIs
Define and maintain business KPIs and metric definitions — specifying calculation logic, business context, and interpretation guidance — and ensure they are consistently applied across the organisation.
Support the creation and certification of data products and analytical datasets, ensuring they meet quality, lineage, and governance standards before being published for consumption.
Maintain business glossaries and data dictionaries that make data assets discoverable and understandable to non-technical users.
Promote standardisation of business metrics across teams, reducing conflicting definitions and improving trust in shared data.
Lead data governance and compliance activities
Support the implementation of data governance policies, standards, and practices across the data platform.
Maintain metadata, data lineage, and business classifications — working with tooling such as Microsoft Purview to ensure the data catalogue is accurate and up to date.
Assist with regulatory reporting requirements and compliance obligations, and support audit readiness activities.
Champion data stewardship across the organisation — helping data owners understand and fulfil their responsibilities.
Validate data quality and support adoption
Participate in data validation and acceptance testing for new and updated data products, ensuring delivered assets meet the requirements defined.
Support investigation of data quality issues reported by consumers, working with Data Engineers to diagnose and resolve them.
Drive adoption of certified data products and datasets across business teams — helping users understand what is available, how to use it, and why it is trustworthy.
Collaborate across functions
Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the technical Data Platform team — keeping both sides aligned on priorities, requirements, and delivery progress.
Work closely with the Data Architect on data modelling decisions to ensure physical models reflect business semantics correctly.
Support the Lead Data Analyst and Analyst team by ensuring the data products they consume are well-documented, governed, and fit for purpose.
What you bring

Exposure to data governance programmes, metadata management, or compliance reporting environments.
Technical skills
SQL for data validation, exploration, and requirements verification
Data contracts (YAML-based) — authoring and maintaining data-contract.yml including schema definitions, KPI descriptions, column metadata, and governance attributes that feed Unity Catalog and downstream consumers

Microsoft Purview — data cataloguing, metadata management, lineage tracking, and business classification
Power BI concepts — understanding how Gold layer data products are consumed in BI tools
Azure Monitor and Log Analytics (awareness) — understanding observability outputs for data quality and pipeline health discussions
Databricks notebooks (basic awareness) — ability to navigate and validate notebook outputs during data product acceptance testing
Data Warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling basics
Familiarity with data quality frameworks and lineage concepts
Personal competencies
You are a natural connector — you build trust with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and keep them aligned.
You are precise with definitions — you know that a poorly defined metric causes more damage than a missing one, and you push for clarity.
You are thorough in documentation — you treat well-written specs, glossaries, and governance records as deliverables, not afterthoughts.
You advocate for the data consumer — you think about how data products will be used and ensure they are discoverable, trustworthy, and well-explained.
You manage ambiguity well — you can take a loosely defined business question and turn it into a structured, actionable requirement.
