Intern - R&D (Mechanical Simulation)
Driven by the passion to improve the quality of people’s lives, WS Audiology continues to grow as the market leader in the hearing aid industry. With our commitment to increase penetration in an underserved hearing care market, we want to accelerate our business transformation to reach more people, more effectively.
As an R&D (Mechanical Simulation) Intern, you will be required to support and complete tasks for several cutting-edge projects handled by Simulation Engineers. You will gain hands-on experience by assisting with simulations, data analysis, and model testing, while contributing to the development of innovative solutions. This role provides an excellent opportunity to learn and gain valuable industrial exposure, allowing you to apply academic knowledge in real-world scenarios and expand your skills in mechanical simulation.
What you will do
- Support the validation of Impact Simulation for Rubber Models in Abaqus by conducting impact tests using Pendulum and Drop Impact Testers
- Analyze shock levels during impact and correlate test results with simulation data to enhance accuracy
- Contribute to the correlation process, improving the reliability of mechanical simulation outcomes
- Assist in validating system-level simulations by conducting tests with a Pendulum Tester to determine Total Harmonic Distortion of the Receiver at pre-determined drop orientations
- Contribute to the correlation of actual receiver survival with predicted shock levels, improving the accuracy of mechanical simulation results for shock prediction
- Regularly communicate and collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure alignment, coordinate tasks, and foster a collaborative culture that promotes a holistic approach to problem-solving.
What you bring
Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related fields
- Strong interest in and familiarity with simulation tools and software (e.g. Abaqus, Python) as well as CAD software (e.g. Creo, Spaceclaim)
- Passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of others
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- An interest in assistive technologies or the medical device industry is a plus.
