Data Analyst Lead/Architect

We're looking for an experienced Lead Analyst lead/Architect to drive the technical vision, architecture, and delivery of our modern Azure-based data platform. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine deep engineering expertise with architectural thinking to build scalable, governed, and AI-ready data solutions that power analytics and business decision-making across multiple mobile app brands.
What you will do
Platform architecture & technical standards
Define and evolve the enterprise data platform architecture and technology roadmap.
Make key technology decisions and document Architectural Decision Records (ADRs).
Establish Lakehouse layer definitions, inter-layer data contracts, and engineering best practices.
Lead architecture and design reviews to ensure scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions.
Hands-on engineering delivery
Build reference implementations and reusable data pipeline frameworks.
Develop critical ingestion and transformation pipelines using Azure Databricks and Spark.
Conduct code reviews to maintain engineering quality and minimise technical debt.
Champion engineering excellence through practical implementation.
Data modelling & data product ownership
Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Own the end-to-end lifecycle of data products across multiple mobile application brands—from design and development through release, maintenance, and retirement.
Define data product standards, certification tiers, schema conventions, and Gold layer dataset structures.
Ensure data products remain aligned with evolving business requirements and source system changes.
Governance, compliance & AI/ML readiness
Establish governance standards, metadata practices, and data contracts
Ensure platform alignment with security, privacy, and GDPR requirements.
Implement data cataloguing and lineage using Microsoft Purview.
Design architecture supporting feature stores and ML-ready datasets.
Technical leadership & collaboration
Mentor and guide Data Engineers through complex technical challenges.
Collaborate with senior stakeholders to shape platform direction and technical strategy.
Partner with Systems Analysts to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Foster a strong engineering culture focused on quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
What you bring
Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (Master's preferred).
8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Analytics Engineering.
Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale cloud data platforms.
Strong background leading technical architecture, engineering delivery, and data platform initiatives.
Experience working in regulated or governance-focused environments.
Technical Skills:
Expertise with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Delta Lake, Azure Databricks, and Apache Spark.
Strong knowledge of Medallion Architecture, data modelling, and modern data product design.
Expert-level Python and SQL.
Experience with Databricks Workflows, Databricks Asset Bundles, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (Bicep or equivalent).
Knowledge of Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and Log Analytics.
Strong understanding of data governance, security, data contracts, and compliance best practices.
